Georgina's Advert (With My Sound)

Creation Process Of Soundtrack

Evaluation

When I found out that my partners advert was a perfume advert I imminently had an idea what the soundtrack should be like, as most perfume adverts have a similar style and slow, sexy tone.  The only issue was, I needed to figure out how I was going to make my perfume advert different from all the other perfume advert soundtracks. I then looked into the target audience for the product and found out that the perfume advert was for a Justin Bieber product, which would appeal to girls aged 9 to 16, this meant that in order to make my perfume advert different, would be to make it quit unexpectedly mature and complex, yet fun and upbeat and matching the perfume theme. I feel that I achieved this easily as I did quite a lot of research on other similar products. My soundtrack was made completely from scratch; all the sounds were created on Cubase with a midi keyboard and different sound effects and VST instruments.  Overall I am pleased with the result of my soundtrack, I felt like I was taking a risk by making my soundtrack mature and deep, but my partner got what I was aiming for and assures me that the target audience for this product would do too.

Learning Outcome Three

As part of my soundtrack for moving image unit, my task was to create a soundtrack for another students advert. This meant I would produce all the requested aspects for the advert such as, music, dialogue, sounds and special effect (SFX).

After my partner had started the pre-production for her advert, we both sat down and stared of by drafting a mind-map with of what kind of sounds and music they would like. We sketched out ideas such as:
  • Advert Type
  • Soundtrack comparisons and example
  • Key instruments
  • Music Genres

After The Planning Process of my soundtrack I decided to start doing some research on other similar advert soundtracks. this help me develop idea's that would work with my partners advert.

MUSIC-
The Song used in this advert is ‘Strange love’ by ‘Friendly Fires’, this song is a Fast  tempo, alternative rock track. It work well with this advert, as the advert is very dark in tone and consists of rock-n-roll elements such as fast cars and leather clothing
SOUND-
The sound in the advert consist of a car engine, this car is an unexisting model of a car, which means they have used sound effect to create the sound for the, futuristic and fire shifting wheels.
DIALOGUE-
‘Gucci guilty, the new fragrance her’. The dialogue simply states the name of the fragrance name and the target audience.

MUSIC-
The Song used in this advert is ‘A Funky Space Reincarnation’ by  ‘Marvin Gaye’, this song is a Medium tempo, Jazz/soul track, which works well in this advert as it’s supposed to be sexy and smooth.
SOUND-
The only other sounds that you can here in this advert are footsteps of Charlize Theron as she walks around, this advert is mostly about Charlize Theron and the music, which means other sounds and special effects, would not fit in or feel as natural as the advert is.
DIALOGUE-
Charlize Theron-
·        ‘Gold is cold’
·        ‘Diamonds are dead’
·        ‘A Limousin is a car’
·        ‘Don’t pretend, feel what’s real that’s it, J’adore’. J’adore Dior
This dialogue is a very well suited poem that describes the theme and subject matter of the fragrance.

The Brief

For this task my brief was to be able to produce a soundtrack that included SFX and voice overs to a moving image. The chosen advert was decided by our teacher. We had a few lessons preparing and brain storming our ideas and what we wanted to record using what software and equipment. My peers and I knew that before we did anything we would each have to learn how to use the software properly I decided to put together a 'step to' guide to help if i ever forgot later on in the production.

After writing out the script I decided that I needed to find someone else to record this, someone with a completely different voice.  I decided that I would use a female voice, as it would be different from mine. Me and my partner went to the college studio and used a H2 zoom for the outdoor SFX recordings and used a dynamic mic for the voice overs as the quality was much better.
